How Covista Is Partnering to Close the AI Gap in Health

Leaders at Covista (formerly Adtalem Global Education) and Hippocratic AI previewed how they are creating learning pathways to help healthcare professionals better understand and leverage artificial intelligence.
In November, Covista and Hippocratic AI announced their innovative partnership to advance healthcare education by training and certifying clinicians on using artificial intelligence in healthcare. Covering topics such as applications in nursing, integration into clinical workflows, and ethical considerations, the curriculum will be integrated into programs offered by Covista’s Chamberlain University and Walden University in spring 2025.
In December, Covista’s Katherine Strang joined Hippocratic AI’s chief nursing officer, Dr. Amy McCarthy, to share more about the partnership at the Fortune Brainstorm AI 2024 conference in San Francisco. They participated in a panel, “Closing the Education Gap in the Era of Gen AI,” moderated by Jeremy Kahn, AI editor at Fortune and conference co-chair. Covista sponsored the panel, which also included Maria Flynn, president and CEO of Jobs for the Future, and Annie Chechitelli, chief product officer of Turnitin.
Here’s a little of what they shared about their collaborative efforts to put artificial intelligence to work for healthcare providers and patients.
“Covista is one of the largest providers of health professionals in the United States, so we really want to make sure that our graduates are practice-ready clinicians. This partnership is a great opportunity to ensure that they’re going out into the workforce with the skills that are going to be needed in the future," said Katherine Strang, Senior Director, Product Design and Development, Covista.
“It's been a wonderful partnership to develop this curriculum alongside Covista. Clinicians need to be a part of this conversation so that when technology is being put in front of them, they're able to have a voice at that table to promote patient safety and ethical ways of using artificial intelligence," said Dr. Amy McCarthy, Chief Nursing Officer, Hippocratic AI.
