Scott Liles, MBA, MEc
Scott Liles serves as president of the medical and veterinary segment at Covista. He leads the growth strategy and operations for American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, Ross University School of Medicine, and Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Liles' leadership approach focuses on expanding access to medical and veterinary education for students, including those from underserved communities who often return to practice where they're needed most. Under his leadership, the medical institutions have achieved residency attainment rates that significantly exceed other international medical schools and match US school averages, with many graduates training in underserved areas—directly addressing healthcare shortages and improving access to care in rural and urban communities nationwide. The medical schools are the second and third largest providers of MDs to the U.S. health system. In addition, Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine is the number one provider of DVM graduates as compared to all U.S. schools.
Prior to joining Covista, Liles was CEO of ACAMS, the leading global organization aimed at halting financial crime through education and advocacy. Prior to ACAMS, he held multiple leadership roles at Nationwide including as President of Nationwide Pet Insurance and President of Spire Insurance. Liles also held senior roles at McKinsey and in Accenture’s strategy practice. Additionally, he has significant global experience through his work as an economist in South Africa and leading U.N. development initiatives in Vietnam.
Liles currently serves on the Covista Foundation board. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from Texas A&M University, a master's degree in economics from University of Cape Town and an MBA from London Business School.
